  • Extra-Virgin olive oil
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 c ketchup
  • ¼ c brown sugar
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 2 T red or white wine vinegar
  • 1 T of Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 T dry mustard
  • 1 T ground cumin
  • 1 t paprika or smoked paprika if desired Salt & pepper to taste.

DIRECTIONS:

Heat 2 Teaspoons of oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.Add the onion and garlic and cook slowly for 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients & stir. Turn heast down to low. Cook slowly for 20 minutes. Lets cool or use as desired.

  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup Brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • ¼ teaspoon butter
  • ½ cup catsup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoke salt (or liquid or powered smoke)

DIRECTIONS:

Combine vinegar, water, sugar, mustard, pepper, salt, cayenne, lemon juice, onion, and butter. Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Makes about 1 ¾ cups.

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 ½ cups yellow whole kernel corn
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium poblano pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 fresh Serrano pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 4 Roma tomatoes, cored and chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup snipped fresh cilantro
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Baked tortilla chips, peeled Jicama slices, and/or sweet pepper strips

DIRECTIONS:

In large skillet cook corn, onion, Poblano  pepper, Serrano pepper, and garlic in hot oil until corn is starting to brown. Remove from heat. Stir tomatoes, cilantro, and salt into corn mixture. Serve warm or at room temperature with tortilla chips, jicama slices, and/or sweet pepper  strips. Makes 12 ( ¼ cup) servings.

The effective fruit of winter is kiwi. It involves many vitamins, it cleans the dead layer of skin and it renovates the skin. You can prepare your own mask at home. Here are some formulas for you.

Sliced Kiwi Rings

Bark the raw kiwi and slice it very thin. Put the rings on your face and rest for 5-15 minutes.

 Compress with kiwi juice  

                Liquidize the kiwi with blender.Dip the steril bandage in kiwi juice and compress it to your face. Wait for 10 minutes.Wash with lukewarm water.

                             Kiwi juice and Slip

              Mix kiwi juice and slip with wooden spoon. Make it consistency of cream. Rub it on your face. Rest for 10 minutes. And then wash with lukewarm water. This is very beneficial for oily and pimpled skin.

Quick COFFEE CAKE WITH CRUMB TOPPING

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ cups sifted flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons melted shortening

Sift flour , sugar, baking powder and salt together. Beat egg and add milk and shortening. Stir liquids into dry ingredients, mixing only enough to dampen all the flour. Pour into greased pan. Sprinkle with crumb topping and bake in ho oven (425 degrees F.) 25 minutes. Makes 1 (9×9 inch) coffee cake.

CRUMB TOPPING

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ¼ cup sifted flour
  • ¼ cup dry bread crumbs
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Cream butter and sugar together. Add flour, crumbs and cinnamon. Mix to consistency of coarse crumbs and sprinkle over coffee cake batter before baking.

 INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 and ½ cup all-purpose flour
  •  1 cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  •  2 teaspoons baking powder
  •  2 eggs
  •  ¼ cup vegetable oil
  •  ¾ cup milk
  •  1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup or more fresh berries( optional )

Topping:

  •  1 tablespoon cinnamon
  •  3 tablespoons sugar
  •  A little oil

Directions:

  • Sift dry ingredients into bowl- or pour all in and stir with a whisk. Make a little well in center of dry ingredients and add two beaten eggs. Fill a cup measure with ¼ cup oil and the rest with milk: (3/4 cup); pour into bowl.
  • Add vanilla
  • Mix together, but no need to beat.
  • Fold in berries(optional)
  • Pour into greased ( or sprayed with PAM) 8×8 cake pan.
  • Jiggle pan a little to make sure the mixture is level- sometimes the center takes longer to bake.

 

For Topping:

Mix sugar and cinnamon with a little oil until crumbly. You can add the topping before baking or right when you take it out of the oven.

Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Test with a cake tester.
